The Picolo series are low cost high quality PCI frame grabbers for Personal Computers. They allow for the video capture of standard composite video signals in color (PAL/NTSC) or in Monochrome (CCIR/EIA). Full resolution images (640x480 or 768x576) in individual frames or video sequence can be captured.

Any image format is supported thanks to a high-quality hardware scaler. Arbitary cropping to a region of interest is built-in. The Picoloa boards generate Bitmaps in all popular color formats such as RGB/YUV/Planar or packed.

All Picolo boards are PCI bus mastering which means they directly store captured images to PC memory without CPU involvment. As a unique feature they automatically recover the scatter-gather virtual memory mapping to present the data as a regular bitmap image in a user allocated memory buffer.

The Picolo boards are supplied with the Multi-Cam driver and an SDK with C++ & ActiveX tools. The Multi-Cam driver enables the consistent control of several Picolo frame grabbers, using an arbitary number of cameras, from one or several software applications. Mult-Cam complies with most development environments. The native API is a set of powerful C++ classes embedding the whole Multi-Cam functionality. Multi-Cam operates under Windows 98/SE/ME/2000 & XP.

Typical applications for the Picolo cards include machine vision, fingerprint or ID card image capture and security surveillance.
